SQLBenchmarkPro requires the installation of 3 components - the "Repository Database", the "Trace Controller Service" and the "SQLBenchmarkPro Browser" user interface. SQLBenchmarkPro's service oriented design allows for flexible implementation scenarios, where its components can all be installed on a single server or the components can be distributed over a wide area network to allow collection of monitored events to a single (or multiple) central repository.
A number of popular implementation scenarios are displayed below:
This is the simplest installation scenario - a single target server is monitored by a single Trace Controller Service into a single repository database. Only one user is displayed, but many users could browse the repository database simultaneously. Note that only one repository database is usable in this scenario because a Trace Controller Service accesses exactly one repository database only. A repository database can, however, service multiple Trace Controller Services.
This scenario slightly extends the previous scenario by demonstrating that a single Trace Controller Service can monitor multiple target servers, storing trace data into a single Repository database.
This scenario demonstrates that multiple Trace Controller Services can be installed & share a Repository database. This scenario would be particularly useful when the Repository database is separated from the target servers being monitored over a long distance or over a narrow bandwidth network.
This scenario demonstrates that the Repository Browser is capable of displaying the activity within multiple repositories. Again, although only one Repository Browser (user) is displayed in this diagram, multiple users can access repositories using the browser simultaneously.
