2 minute setup guide
Whilst we strongly recommend reading our help files prior to planning your
installation of SQLBenchmarkPro,
we also understand that many users want to install our product with minimal
fuss & as quickly as possible. This guide walks you through the minimum
steps required to get SQLBenchmarkPro
up & running on a single computer in the shortest amount of time.
Pre-installation preparation
* Ensure an installation of Microsoft SQL Server (tm) 2000 or 2005 is currently
installed on the installation computer (required for the SQLBenchmarkPro
Repository database)

Ensure that Microsoft .Net Framework 1.1 or 2.0 is
installed on the installation computer (required for the SQLBenchmarkPro Browser GUI &
Trace Controller Service

Follow these steps to complete a simple installation of SQLBenchmarkPro
1. Launch the SQLBenchmarkPro installer & click "Next"
2. Read the license agreement, select "I accept the license agreement.."
if you wish to continue & click "Next"
3. Personalise your registration details & click "Next"

Choose Simple Setup & click "Next"

Select installation directory & click "Next"

Configure start menu group & click "Next"

Enter Database Repository connection details & click "Next"

Ready to start installation & click "Next"

Installation in progress. This section can take a few minutes, as the
Repository Database is being created with scripts, the Trace Controller
Service is installed and the SQLBenchmarkPro
Browser is also being installed. Please wait for this section to complete
and it will automatically navigate to the next screen.

Installation completed. Leave the "Open Start Menu" option checked
& click "Finish"

The Start Menu folder opens, displaying the SQLBenchmarkPro
Browser & Help

Register Repository Database in Browser. Whilst the SQLBenchmarkPro
system is fully installed at this point, it is still necessary to register
the installed Repository Database with the Browser user interface (many
repositories can be registered in a single Browser). Right click on the
"My Repository Browser" node & select the "Connect
to New Repository" menu.

After clicking on the "Connect to New Repository" menu, you
will be prompted to connect to a Repository Database. Enter the same details
you provided earlier in step 7 of this guide and click "OK".

SQLBenchmarkPro is now successfully
installed and needs only to be activated
before it is ready to use ! Note that the Simple Setup routine registers
the SQL Server instance chosen to host the Repository Database as a target
server (yellow node) for tracing with our standard "InefficientQueries"
trace template configured, ready for execution. After activation,
right click the "InefficientQueries" trace template & select
the "Start" menu to begin tracing!
